I’m well aware that people have very different attitudes.

As a patient, I am well aware that people have very different attitudes.  Some doctors are good, kind, compassionate and caring, while others appear to have what I think of as a “God” complex.  They do not want to be questioned or allow the patient to have an opinion that is not their own.

I know the training is very long and it takes time to become qualified.  And yes, I admire that greatly.  It isn’t something I could ever have imagined doing myself.  Not really my thing.  And doctors have a dramatic influence on the patients, obviously because they determine the treatment or not of the patient.

Can I ask you something?  Do you ever think that in spite of your knowledge that there is always something you DON’T know?  That there is greater understanding or ability to succeed and give patients a better experience?  Are the patients at the front of your mind?

I was  thinking about cooking, for example.  You have home cooks and people who work in restaurants where they have Michelin stars and are highly skilled at the work they do.

Allowing yourself to learn, practice, listen and discover is never a bad thing.  Doctors are, after all, the ones people go to see for resolving health problems.

Will you be willing to do that?
