Making Hospital Communications Clearer for All Patients
I have had an extremely exhausting and confusing morning and I wondered if you could help everyone and not only just myself with something the future please? With the conditions I have sometimes my brain isn’t in the best place - and I know that I will not be the only person in the world who suffers this way.
Actually, I had two problems today with 5 letters in total. One of the issues was quite simple thank goodness. I was confused as to what the appointment was because it just said General Medical with a male doctor which was being changed to another male doctor, for some thing.
So I had to call to find out exactly what it was for and discovered it was for my allergies. Well, that’s fine, but when I last came to the hospital, I saw a lady doctor, so how was I to guess it had been changed to a man and know what it was for?
The other three letters gave me three different dates for a pain appointment. Now getting two dates is confusing enough but THREE? I had to phone a different number and the lady I spoke to told me that yes, I had had 3 different appointments but the one that was in a couple of weeks was the correct one.
I’m not meaning to complain but really - how am I meant to know what department I am being seen at if the letter doesn’t say? And three different dates for a pain clinic ok, if you have to, I guess, but would it be possible for you to please say WHICH is the correct date? I had assumed the one further away would be correct, but obviously it wasn’t.
PLEASE I would so appreciate it if you could make things clearer so that I understand what you mean and I am sure other people will too.
Thank you so much
